A Traditional Assyrian Wedding in Chicago

One of the things I love most about being a wedding photographer is having the opportunity to reconnect with families I’ve photographed over the years. I had the pleasure of photographing Diana’s sister’s wedding several years ago, so being invited back to document Ninos and Diana’s wedding in Chicago was such a wonderful experience. Seeing familiar faces again and celebrating another milestone with their family made the day even more meaningful.

Their wedding was a beautiful celebration of love, family, and Assyrian traditions. From their church ceremony at St. Andrew’s Parish to portraits at Northwestern University and an evening of celebrations at Meridian Banquet, it was a day filled with so many memorable moments.

A Traditional Assyrian Wedding at St. Andrew’s Parish

Ninos and Diana celebrated their marriage with a traditional Assyrian church ceremony at St. Andrew’s Parish, surrounded by family and friends. Having grown up in the Assyrian community myself, I always enjoy photographing weddings that incorporate our culture, faith, and traditions.

There’s so much meaning behind these celebrations, and I love being able to document the moments that bring everyone together. The ceremony was a beautiful beginning to their wedding day, with so much more celebrating still to come.

Wedding Portraits at Northwestern University

Following their ceremony, we made our way to Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, for wedding portraits. The beautiful architecture and surrounding grounds provided a gorgeous backdrop for Ninos and Diana’s photos.

One thing I always appreciate about wedding portraits is giving couples a little time together in the middle of such a busy day. Between all the excitement and celebrations, it’s a chance to slow down, enjoy each other’s company, and capture some beautiful moments before heading into the evening festivities.

An Assyrian Wedding Reception at Meridian Banquet

The celebrations continued at Meridian Banquet, where Ninos and Diana spent the evening surrounded by their family and friends.

If you’ve ever attended an Assyrian wedding, you know how much we love to celebrate! Between the music, traditional dancing, and excitement throughout the room, there’s always so much happening, and I love capturing those moments as they unfold.

It was such a fun evening filled with dancing, laughter, and everyone coming together to celebrate the newlyweds. Having photographed Diana’s sister’s wedding years earlier, it was especially nice seeing familiar faces and being part of another celebration with their family.

Chicago Wedding Photography and Beyond

Although I’m now based in Phoenix, Chicago will always be home to me. It’s where I grew up and where I began my photography journey, so returning to photograph weddings here is something I always look forward to.

Whether it’s a traditional Assyrian wedding, an intimate celebration, or a destination wedding somewhere new, I love documenting each couple’s day in a way that allows them to be fully present and enjoy the experience.

Ninos and Diana, thank you for inviting me to be part of your beautiful wedding day. It was such a pleasure celebrating with you and your families!
